Practice

Sidney is one of the Syracuse area's first environmental law practitioners with over 40 years of experience. He practices in the areas of environmental, land use and zoning, eminent domain litigation and administrative agency law. He has vast experience in local, state and national environmental law, particularly in the area of corporate affairs, and has been involved in many of New York State's most influential environmental decisions. He has served a variety of individuals, associations, municipalities and businesses on environmental proceedings before state and federal courts and agencies. Previously, Sidney was a named partner in a Syracuse law firm.

Sidney has represented clients in federal and state courts and has handled administrative law proceedings before the New York State's Department of Environmental Conservation and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. His clients include chemical, oil and manufacturing industries, waste recovery companies, and emergency response agencies, as well as many townships and governments. He has acted as counsel to industries cited for violations of the Occupational Safety, Health Act and New York State Labor Laws.

In 2006, Sidney received the honorary title, "Empire State Counsel," from the New York State Bar Association for providing over 50 hours of free legal services to the poor. He was among the first lawyers to review and lecture on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and helped shape the New York State Environmental Section for both the New York State and Onondaga County Bar Associations. He has also served as a Federal Court Evaluator.
