Scholarship Winner Announced for "Impressions of Syracuse" Photo Contest

Syracuse, NY - November 3, 2009 - Shawna Lake, a Junior at West Genesee High School in Camillus, has won the "Impressions of Syracuse" Photography Contest sponsored by Green & Seifter, Attorneys, PLLC. The winner was announced Thursday evening at a private showing of the top twenty entries held at the art gallergy at the Redhouse in downtown Syracuse.

Shawna's photo, selected from over 150 entries submitted from ten participating high schools in Onondaga County, captures the beauty of Syracuse's historic architecture as reflected in the building located at 400 South Salina Street. Shawna was awarded a $500 scholarship and the winning photo will be featured on the Green & Seifter, Attorneys 2009 holiday card. Wendy Cross, Shawna's photography teacher at West Genesee High School, was also presented with a $500 donation to the school's The Visual Arts Department.

The photo contest, open to Onondaga County High School Students, was inspired by the "Turner to Cézanne" exhibit currently on display at the Everson Museum. "We hoped to increase awareness about the exhibit among the youth in our community and encourage them to take advantage of the opportunity to view these incredible works of art," said Kathy Ryan, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Green & Seifter, Attorneys. "We were amazed at the level of creativity, visual perspective, and enthusiasm of the students who participated. The contest was so well received that the firm hopes to make the competition an annual event."
